St Augustine Parish and Knights of Columbus Council #311 invite our Police Officers, Medical and Emergency Services Personnel to attend the Noon Mass on Sunday September 25, 2022, the celebration of Saint Michaels feast day the Noon Mass at St Augustines (map).
Each Police Officer attending the Mass will have the option to receive a St. Michael the Archangel Medal as a way of saying thank you to Law Enforcement Officers that risk their lives every day to protect us. A Blue Mass is celebrated annually throughout the United States in the Catholic Church for those employed in the "public safety field" (i.e. police officers, medical and EMS personnel). The color blue relates to the blue-colored uniforms predominantly used by these services.
- Michael is rare in the Catholic Church as a named saint that is not a human being.
- He is the protector of heaven and of God’s chosen people,
- He enforces the will of God by battling and subduing the demons, especially Satan.
- He is regarded as the patron saint of Police, Medical, Emergency Services Personnel, and the Military.
If you as an Officer plan to attend, please sign up in advance to receive your St Michael coin. This will ensure we have enough on-hand. Please note that this years coin is Police Officer specific. We are searching for a more universal coin or if there is enough interest other coins to include if this event is successful.
