What we do

Midnight Run

Our Midnight Run organization with the St. Augustine Midnight Run Ministry, started about 12 years ago by Al Otero. Al was a Knight of Columbus in this Council #311, and with the help of community volunteers he founded the program here and brought it to Parishioners, Our School, and the Youth Group.

The mission of Midnight Run is to distribute food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City. The late night relief efforts create a forum for trust, sharing, understanding and affection. That human exchange, rather than the exchange of goods, is the essence of the Midnight Run. Midnight Run volunteers come to see people on the streets as real people, and homeless men and women interact with mainstream adults and teenagers whose commitments and concerns go beyond their own lives and families. Our Midnight Run program covers four to five runs to New York City each year.
